Mould Remediation and Removal
NOTE: The building was evacuated for 5 days. Air sampling performed after completion showed that air quality inside the building was equal to or superior to that outside. NOTE: Inside fogging requires minimal disturbance of furniture or contents Commercial Situations: Mould decontamination is not confined to residential properties. We probably spend even more time in our work places so it is very important to make sure our working environment is healthy also. A major water intrusion problem at the National Parks and Wildlife building in Port Macquarie. As a consequence of this water intrusion, mould and mildew was found to be growing in various areas of the building. The problem was so bad that National Parks & Wildlife staff had refused to continue working within the building. We faced the prospect of having a vacant unhealthy building with no remedy in sight. I contacted Moisture Cure Pty Ltd to see if they could help in solving this problem. Within days Bob from Moisture Cure had set up an inspection of the premises, and arranged for his business partner, Rob Goldsworthy, a world renowned mould and mildew remediation expert – to attend. Bob and Rob undertook an inspection of the building, measuring dampness in walls, ceilings and floors. The source of the mould growth was located, a time arranged to commence remediation work arranged, and a quote for costs provided, all within a couple of days of my initial contact with Moisture Cure. Bob and Rob undertook an inspection of the building, measuring dampness in walls, ceilings and floors. Everything happened so quickly – the source of the mould growth was located, a time arranged for commencement of remediation work, a quote provided setting out procedures and costs, all within a couple of days of my initial contact with Moisture Cure. Air sampling inside and outside the building to estimate the extent of the contamination were conducted. This created a benchmark to work from. They took control of the building for 24 hours while they ‘fogged’ a mould and mildew remediation solution to every surface within the building. To completely eradicate the mould, the entire inside of the air-conditioning system, all wall surfaces, all ceiling surfaces and above, behind wall cavities, and anywhere they could get access, had the solution applied. All carpets were found to be severely flooded and were also treated. The solution was applied to mould and mildew on the outside parameters of the building, including a 2 metre radius of the building. An important part of the work was the independent air sampling taken prior to the work commencing and at the completion. The results confirmed the inside of the building to be as clean as the outside environment. This procedure ensured that all mould and mildew spores were removed and the building, plus all surfaces, were brought back to ‘ground zero’. National Parks and Wildlife staff have now returned to their place of work and enjoy the comforts of a safe and clean working environment. |
